"different chassis, one is a '92 -'95 Honda Civic and the other is a '99-'00 Honda Civic."

I thought i could divert some attention to a more productive thread.

I like clean civics but, i don't know the details of Honda tech. Is the later chassis a better platform for racing? How about the hatchbacks, the "eg" and "ek."
Are the earlier models lighter, later more stiff?

I think the forums should have informative posts like this. Like, what is there to know about American sports car racing from 1950 to 1979?. That could be an interesting post, i might learn something about car culture. Or, what was drag racing like in Southern California during the 60's and 70's, I wasn't here yet.

The EG chassis is lighter, and (at least in my opinion) has a much more "bare bones" feel to it. Suspension set-ups are almost identical between the two, and the US-offered engines are extremely similar as well. I personally think the EK chassis offered more in the areas of style and comfort, but for a strict track car you can't go wrong with the EG.

i should be able to help in the civic department with pretty much anything you need.

the 92-95(EG) civic is quite a bit lighter than the 96-00(EK) civic. also, the hatchbacks make way better race cars than the coupes. they are even lighter and stiffer along with being able to put roll cages in them a lot easier. as for bolt on performance parts, both cars are almost 100% identical. CAI's, headers, all suspension, etc. will work on anything 89-00. in 88 there were a couple minor differences. one of them are tranny input shaft splines. the 88 was a little different than 89-00 along with the axles. also in 88 they had something honda called "passive rear steering" which was lower rear control arms made from sheet metal that would flex. some people like them and some dont. they were also on the integra type r.

if you have anything specific let me know. i could ramble on all day when im not guided into an answer. lol
